The family’s history dates back to 1470, making the winery one of the oldest family-run estates in the region. The historic Tenuta di Squarano forms the heart of the winery. The vineyards stretch around the villa on limestone- and clay-rich soils, which lend the wines their elegance, minerality, and longevity. The mild climate, shaped by the breezes from Lake Garda and the protection of the Lessini Alps, creates ideal conditions for growing the classic grape varieties of Valpolicella.
Marchesi Fumanelli is firmly committed to traditional, handcrafted winemaking. All grapes come exclusively from the estate’s own vineyards and are carefully harvested by hand. In the cellar, the winery combines centuries of experience with modern winemaking techniques. Marchesi Fumanelli is known internationally primarily for its full-bodied red wines. The Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG captivates with intense aromas of dark fruit, spices, and subtle toasted notes. Equally popular is the Valpolicella Ripasso DOC, which, thanks to its elegant structure and harmonious balance, ranks among the region’s classic wines. The Octavius Amarone Riserva DOCG also produces exceptional top-tier wines that impressively showcase the full potential of Valpolicella.
