Falkenstein as origin – The wines of Dürnberg
In the historic wine village of Falkenstein in the Weinviertel region, first documented in 1309, Dürnberg produces wines with a distinctive origin and character. The striking Falkenstein cliffs, calcareous soils, loess and clay, as well as the significant temperature variations between day and night, create ideal conditions for elegant, mineral, and expressive wines. Today, Falkenstein is one of Austria's most important wine villages and forms the heart of Dürnberg's philosophy.
The winery combines the region's long winemaking tradition with modern and sustainable practices. The vineyards are organically cultivated, all wines are vegan, and they are produced with the utmost respect for nature. Meticulous handwork in the vineyard, selective hand-harvesting, and gentle vinification ensure that every bottle authentically reflects the character of its origin.
A particular focus is placed on Grüner Veltliner, the flagship grape variety of the Weinviertel. With its Grüner Veltliner Tradition Weinviertel DAC Reserve, Dürnberg impressively demonstrates the potential of this grape variety. Spicy notes, fine minerality, elegant fruit, and a harmonious structure make it a classic representative of its region with excellent aging potential.
The Weißburgunder Falkenstein Reserve is equally impressive. Extended aging on the lees gives it a creamy texture, elegant fruit aromas, and a delicate minerality. Its complexity and balance make it an excellent food pairing wine and one of the winery's flagship wines.
With its Riesling Pétillant Naturel (Pét Nat), Dürnberg combines one of the most traditional methods of sparkling wine production with the utmost precision. The wine is produced using the Méthode Ancestrale, in which the only fermentation takes place in the bottle, creating the natural carbon dioxide. Unlike many classic Pét Nats, this Riesling is subsequently riddled and disgorged. This results in a particularly clear, elegant, and delicately sparkling wine that uniquely expresses the freshness and minerality of the Riesling.
